it was to good to be true!

I knew it! My human had evil plans for me after all this weekend. I knew all that show ring training would lead to something evil. Evil being dog shows and me standing on a table being touched by evil judges. I dread it like a visit to the dentist…not that I’ve ever been to one, but my human has and it ain’t funny. For some reason the idea of strutting my stuff in the show ring gives me the heebie jeebies, and since I’m a fairly big whippet I was sure that my human wouldn’t enter me in these evil competitions. Boy, was I wrong! Instead of letting me be a supportive spectator, she decided that me being a “chicken” wasn’t gonna be the reason for me not being able to win big. So, it’s ok for her if I get a blue ribbon because of my size, but not for being somewhat reluctant about having strangers touch me? Should I worry? In an attempt to overcome my fear of dog shows, we have been to several show ring training sessions, and my phobia is slowly wearing off. But today came a tad too soon, and I didn’t feel like performing. In my defense, I behaved really well on the table. I didn’t panic, I was totally relaxed and the judge touched me everywhere, without me wanting to run far, far away. But, and there is always a big but(t…and that ain’t mine), when it came to me being stacked in the ring, in front of the judge, I tried to make a run for it. I could tell my human’s stress level was increasing, and that made me even more anxious. In the end I got through it fairly OK I guess. I got a red ribbon, but I was last in my group. My human didn’t seem to care about that at all. So I guess we’re happy it’s all over! Azaar, the Sloughi monster and my best friend, did really well. He got pratically every price he could get! That’s all good, but seriously, where’s the competition if you only have to compete against yourself, mister? And that’s not jealous talk! Well, maybe a little jealous talk.

When we got back to our apartment, I was beat! However, knowing that the day was coming to an end, made me slightly more relaxed. There’s no way my human is putting me through this kind of torture two days in a row! Or, is there….?

  1. Excuze moi? What’s that evil accusation I read, about me not having competition at Lillehammer??? Such evil accusations! I competed against the lovely lady Azira, didn’t I? Hah! You must’ve been sunstruck not to notice her in the ring with me. You are usually the numero uno ladies’ man, so I find it hard to believe that you didn’t see her…
